It really does need diagnostics, have a look at the LZ map, there may be someone nearby who would come and run diagnostics on it for tea and biscuits.
I'm no expert on the GM box, but it could be an internal fault, the transfer neutral and pinging suggests otherwise though.
Seriously, low battery volts can cause many problems, you need to check the voltage engine off, minimum 12.6 volts, and engine running 14.8 volts or thereabouts.
It is seriously doing my nut in,i just want to burn it,only had 6 months and not been far.paid 5k for this and cant drive the thing.Iis there any gear position sensor/switch that may be faulty.

Hi Alan, I do not know the detail of the L322, but, like the P38, the shift is motor driven so the sensing contacts will be on the motor shaft/selector shaft.
Hi Keith, then it's as you say diagnostics other wise its guess work. You OK? the powers that be have dumped 80+ potential corona virus patients on my local hospital, as if Yate's Aussie White wine epidemic isn't bad enough in Birkenhead.:D It may be a cunning plan to cull the unwashed. ;)

Without diagnostics, you are looking for a needle in a haystack.
Range Rovers are not cars, they are a hobby for masochists.
A £5K L322 is likely to need a £3K budget for repairs in the first year.
A second car as a daily driver is more or less essential.:(

All OK here thanks Alan, apart form the rain and a leaking FIP on one P38 and an electrical fault on the other:rolleyes:
Recovery going well I hope?
I note that the political elite did not want to quarantine the corona virus suspects in the south:rolleyes:
At the moment it doesn't seem as bad as the SARS outbreak or even the Spanish Flu, we have some in France too.
I shall be raising a glass of good French wine to Brexit this evening:D

Recovery going well , hope the rain stops soon, you don't want another risk of flooding . I think it's well under control except for the nurses they have moved from their accommodation into local hotels I'll raise a glass with you.keep well.:D

Good info, I steer clear of the L322 as much as possible now my friend has got rid of his, so I'm no expert.

I'd remove the gearbox cable from its mount on the g/ box have some one in the car with the brake on and engine running, see if you can select the gears from park to reverse, then neutral to drive and back to park. If it responds then it could have been the cable.
If not and still no joy then the selector assembly on the g/box or an internal fauilt. Gm... Hmmm not the best choice for jlr....

Thanks mark, rac bloke tried adjusting cable on side of box with no joy, when he tried adjusting cable it jumped back a few inches but still no reverse gear,i was thinking maybe selector assembly, box was fine before hand with no noise or signs of any faults.

Will try that, only had 6months and paid 5k for it,garage dunna wanna know.so if I cant sort it I might sell,td6 anniversary in nice nick.fault on box/gear change.
