TD6 / GM - Gearbox Recon Specialists ??

Hi Guys,

not created a thread of my own for a while. sadly this is not for a good reason.


Unfortunately I think my trusty Td6 is suffering gearbox issues. upon clutch lockup at around 40MPH if i accelerate slowly I get the cattle grid effect !

it has done it once before, but hardly not that often, but now its getting more common.


so im pretty sure my TQ is knackered

luckily i have been changing the gearbox oil and filter every year, so i hope this may of helped to protect the rest of the gearbox from damage from the TQ !


hopefully its simply A TQ change, so the main question really is does anyone know of or can recommend a good transmission recon specialists in the Hertfordshire / Essex area that i could use ?

It's had enough of all the extra torque from the chip-up eh?

Ware in Hertfordshire - I've only used them for servicing 'boxes in the past but they did do a rebuild for me 20+ years ago when they were still in North London (Tottenham?)

haha not sure about that...


got no service history with my car when i got it, so dont even know if its on its original gearbox still !

its on 167k miles now too ! shes getting on ! lol


thanks for the link, i have found quite a few places near me on the internet, its just knowing which company to trust !
