Hi All, new to this forum and hoping you may be able to help.

I have a 2003 Td6 Range Rover and there's an issue under hard acceleration. I get the old *ping* and fuel injection system error pops up and I lose any decent power. Its had a new fuel filter and secondary pump (the one outside the tank) and still no luck. I've plugged it into my hawkeye and get error code p1190... Anyone got any ideas? Thanks!

Yes it's fuel pressure plausibility, I've had a quick scan through forums etc but not sure where to start in terms of fault finding
Only possible thing I can think of is to fit a fuel pressure gauge to the rail - but this is a tool beyond the usual home mech, or take it to someone who has the diagnostics to read live data that will include the fuel rail pressure - it if is low, check the HP pump on the back of the intake manifold, check the pressure regulator, or check the fuel pressure sensor itself!

The TD6 has 3 fuel pumps - the In Tank Lift Pump, the Secondary in-line pump and the High Pressure Rail Pump....I would say either the HP pump is faulty, the regulator that maintains the rail pressure is faulty or the item that reports rail pressure is faulty.

Only way to diagnose further would be to read live data of the rail pressure, or fit a pressure gauge to the rail and read it directly.

It may be possible to check pressure by removing an injector, put it in a see through container, and fire it up - it should be a fine mist at pressure, if it is a spray or dribble - there is no rail pressure!

Thanks for the replies, I had a mechanic have a look and he reckons it's the fuel rail pressure sensor. Do you guys have any tips on replacing this and how easy is it to get to? Pics would be amazing as I can't find any details anywhere! Thanks again!
