TD6 common oil leaks

just got an 03 TD6 and it has a small oil leak somwhere around the oil heat exchanger at the front,but it may be running down from somewhere else, is there a common place where they leak around that area. any suggestions where to start welcome.
Also the oil level is about 1/4" above the top notch on the dipstick will this make any difference.

For starters that's way too much oil!

Should be max 1/2 way between the upper and lower level. Too much oil can over-pressure seals etc and cause leaks. Much more damaging than having too little oil IMHO. I'd drain some out or if you have just bought then have a full oil and filter change (Gearbox too if mileage is over 70-80k (£150-200). My TD6 has a slight leak in the cylinder head gasket but nothing too serious and it didn't use a drop of oil over 2,000 miles this xmas.

Not sure where U R but would get it in to a specialist LR indie for £80 for a once over. I did this with mine and it hasn't put a foot wrong in 2 years and 14,000 miles. (and mine's a 2002).
