have had a gearbox oil leak which is now sorted but need to top up the gearbox oil ,the landrover recommended oil is texaco etl7045e ,went to the local auto place and after a couple of calls the bloke reckoned aq3/dex3 is the same can anyone shed any light on the subject I dont mind going buying the texaco stuff its just getting hold of it as no one seems to sell it locally if i have to i'll go to landrover but any advice would be welcome.

Google the Texaco spec, probably find it's the same as Dexron III.
 
Interesting that it says Dexron III on the bottle....

tis true, but apparently its got different propertys thats supposed to reduce where in the fragile box. dont know how true it is but i figured its not worth risking a known problematic box for the sake of getting the specified oil.
 
after investigating on other sites etc. I'm just going to buy a few litres from l/rover dealer and use that more bothered that they managed to give me the wrong o rings in the first place which resulted in the loss ,thanks
