Hi Steve,

Not sure if it makes a difference, but is it a Defender or a Disco?

Also, there are a few videos on youtube regarding bad starting TD5's

A good idea to have a good working battery , did you check the voltage when you were cranking? iirc the TD% does not like less than 10.5 V when cranking.

Cheers

I'd try tow starting it, my friend and I have battled this issue on his TD5 for years, first it was the injector washers, then he did the pump, fuel regulator blah blah. Almost every time the brute was a pig to start again the first time, each time we got it going on a tow start and then that was it. We were never quite sure why but it was discovered after the battery went flat from trying the sometimes over 40s of cranking.
Are you aware you are quoting a 6 year old post?:p:p

Cheers

Well who the **** brought it back from the grave? I didn't dig it up!

Six years ago?

I wonder if he has got it going yet. Looking at it, he's in the USA. He's probably shot it. Elvis shot his car when it wouldn't start.
