Hi all. Not been on for a while as have had many months of trouble free motoring.
Until now.
Last year had head gasket done.
Couple months ago started losing water slowly. Kept topping up and checking for leaks but no joy.
Went out today topped up the coolant. Done 100 mile and all the water has gone.
Got underneath had a look but can't see anywhere dripping etc but have noticed a large brown stain beneath the water pump.
Is this most likely it? If so what exactly will I need? Can a gasket just be changed or does the whole pump want swapping for a new one? What else might I need. Still would have thought I would see dripping??
No oil in water ( or even no water! )
No water in oil.

Thanks

if the water pump fails its normaly internaly and will leak out of the little weep hole in the housing the water pump sits into!!! yes if its leaking you would need a new water pump matey. and iirc you need to remove the rotor housing to get it out!

Hi, Thanks for the reply.
Managed to get a picture of it this morning.
There is a small hole at the top of the stain just out of the shot of the photo where it must be leaking from. This maybe the weep hole you mentioned?

The stain is quite big as you can see. Why would i not see it dripping if it is that big???

Also how would i know if this is a new leak or an old leak before i owned the car?

Thanks

Thanks

sorry mate haddnt seen your replies ...:( yes thats the weep hole i was on about and yes your water pump appears to be leaking ...chances ares its drying before u see it especialy if you have no or very little antifreeze in the system ....no you wont need any special tools appart from time and patience matey!!!

i wouldn't put a budget pump on as they tend to not last long. i would put on a good brand pump as this is a part you don't want to die on a long run
