i have recently bought and fitted a rebuild kit but it seems to have more play in the odl bearing thatn the new one and in afraid to but it back to gether fully and run it has any one else had a problem like this
 
Surely thats the idea of rebuilding it? The old bearing will have worn leading to more play than the new one. So long as it turns easily by hand then its fine. The bearing uses oil pressure so the shaft floats rather than direct contact as in a roller bearing. There should be a little play but nothing excessive.
 
After just having a quick look on the web I found a page explaining why DIY rebuild aren't ideal. It mentions that standard bearings don't always fit right because of wear so you may need oversized bearing/shims. And when you rebuild a turbo it should be balanced at the same time otherwise it will almost certainly fail again. Don't know if this is any help or not.

no your not getting me the new bearing had more play than the old bearing

i have ended up buying a new cartridge
