Disco 2 Td5 stopped while driving and not starting

Hi All,
A friends Td5 was running fine but suddenly the engine stopped while driving.
The engine then would start for a but rev up and die again.
Sometimes it would not start at all.

Nanocom read:

22-1 road speed missing
27-01 injector 1 peak charge long
27-02 injector 2 peak charge long
27-03 injector 3 peak charge long
27-04 injector 4 peak charge long
27-05 injector 5 peak charge long
28-01 injector 1 peak charge short
28-02 injector 2 peak charge short
28-03 injector 3 peak charge short
28-04 injector 4 peak charge short
28-05 injector 5 peak charge short

Codes come back when the car is not starting but here is the strange bit;
After a few times trying today she ran perfectly without missing a beat and kept running.
Turned her off, removed codes, started again no bother. Codes didn't come back.

No obvious oil in the injector loom plug or the red ECU plug.

The guy just bought the Disco so we know little history. She seems to be well kept.

check the connector on the front of cylinder head where the injector loom joins the main loom, if loose can give the faults you describe

Connector seemed fine, just checked that!
