Well, after a bit more fun changing the output seals, it’s all back together. No play or notchiness in the bearing so hopefully it’s OK. Splines cleaned well and copper-greased for next time.
I had two different pullers on the thing, broke one, the other had no chance. This was definitely a ‘shock’ candidate. Again, since the steering box has to bear tremendous loads, I didn’t feel too bad about hitting it.
Also rebuilt the rear calipers with new stainless steel pistons, pads, springs, clips and seals! A successful day.
