when I try to start the car there is a loud 'click' from the engine bay fuse box and then nowt! This happens about 50% of the time - all of the warning lights go on and off as usual in the ignition sequence. Could it be one of the relays?? The owners manual advises against DIY replacement of the relays - Any suggestions would be welcome -
Cheers:confused:

CHECK THE SPADE CONNECTOR ON THE STARTER FROM UNDERNEATH, MINE HAS A SIMILAR PROBLEM AND IT IS THIS CONNECTION THAT CAUSES A PROBLEM.....

It might be the contacts inside the starter solenoid, a common fault. Have a search on here as someone did post information about purchasing new contacts rather than a whole motor.

Thanks for the advice - wouldn't you know it, I've started & stopped the thing about 15 times today without a blip! I'll bear it in mind for the next time it starts to play up - probably tomorrow as it'll be cold and rainy then!
Cheers.:)
