Hi.Hoping someone may be able to shed some light on problem with my 2001 TD5. Months back the rear brakes/discs appeard to be dragging and binding. Took them off and worked them to free them off, but still had the problem. Bought new calipers/disc/pads. Had been fine for last few months but happening again. Whilst driving, you can hear the rear o/s brake starting to apply. Tap the brake pedal and it clears, but will happen again. Seems to gradually build up pressure on its own. Can the hill desent possibly cause this?? Any pointers gratefully received as will need to buy new discs pads again as its overheated.

Have tried the search function but could not find anything.

Cheers

Roger

I'd go on the EBD...........HDC or TC usually are warning u on the dash.........first thing i'd do is to check fault codes.

Thanks for the quick reply. Plugged my nanocom in to check faults and all ecu clear of faults. No lights on either. Brake fluid is new and firm pedal, so doubt its water vapour/air expanding that could possibly cause the brake to start applying...

Didn't u save somewhere the faults which nanocom gave u ?

This all linked ABS-HDC-ETC-EBD system is quite complex, uses SLABS ECU, ECM and BCU during operation and could mess things up...........it's relevant to know if u have had a fault code on that wheel's ABS sensor or something related............might give u a hint.......anyway take some time anr read the whole operation mode of brakes from RAVE, it'll help u to sort it out.

Thanks for that. Will have a good read through on the rave and see what pointers get. Didnt really make myself clear regarding the nanocom. It didnt bring up any faults (clear). Done 180 miles in her today towing 2.2ton trailer and not a hint of binding!

Cheers.
