.Can anyone help? I have bought a TD5 series 2 and the radiator is at least 3/4 cold apart from the top right hand corner where the pipe is where I have a slight leak. The top pipe in my opinion is hard to squeeze, the temperature is normal and the heaters work fine, i have no oil in my header tank and no water mixed in with the oil. I have recently had the head gasket done and oil cooler changed. I did have the radiator flushed and pressure tested so didn't expect any problems but have my doubts on radiator now does it sound like it is blocked ...can anyone help??

if there is a slight leak, you must be losing coolant..

the coolant is replaced by air which sounds like its sitting at the top of your radiator..

fill it up...

I would be bleeding the cooling system.

Do you know how to do it? If not, see here:

Make sure you have plenty of correct coolant in stock before you start then
1. unclip the coolant header tank from it's mount and slacken the cap;

2. Remove the plastic bleed screw from the top hose;

3. Remove the header tank cap and lift the tank as high as you can while watching the bleed screw hole.

What should happen is that initially only air comes out, then progressively air and coolant and finally coolant only. NB Ensure there is always sufficient coolant in header tank.

Once at the final stage, refit plastic bleed screw, refit header tank, top up coolant and refit tank cap.

Monitor coolant level daily. Monitor radiator temp daily.

And take care that the car is parked on a level or better facing up ground, otherwise your heater matrix is the highes point in the system
