TD5 or V8 LPG ?

I get 20mpg on petrol with my 4.0 V8 Disco 2 and about 18 - 19 mpg when using LPG. But when you consider cost of the fuel (roughly half price of Petrol/Diesel) this give a price equivalent of 38 - 40 mpg against Petrol

Me personally would have the disco 2 as a tuned td5, those engines are awesome!

Fit Compushift to your auto box with an uprated torque converter and wow you've got an awesome setup.

LOVE my v8s but prefer them in the simpler 200/3.5 format simply because I prefer the old vehicles.

Having said that disco 2 is the ONLY sensible option for repeat long distance use and I don't like LPG.

What's the insurance cost for your d1? Then wat will it be for a td5? I'm sure you have checked but that could have a deciding factor if not. I love my td5 I get 26mpg with egr blanked, dastek chip, dastek intercooler and no middle box with mixed driving. Are you certain you will get 45p a mile. If I were you get a little petrol or diesel would be a better option as over £250 a month on fuel is a lot even if your getting some of it back, im sure something that does 60mpg will save you more in the long run.

just strikes me as odd :p

In Feb '07, when I joined, I had a 1982 109, which I sold soon afterwards. The next Landy I had was a Disco 4, so I was posting on the Disco3 forum. I sold the Disco 4 in Jan '10.

So its been 3 years since I've owned a Land Rover and I fancy a Disco 2 V8. I have had several chats with the owner of the car that was posted and I am about to travel 120 miles on Tuesday with the cash to buy it, if it's as good as the seller says.

Then I log onto this forum by pure chance and I see the Disco I'm possibly about to buy, being described by another member as not right.

I've been looking at the pictures and something was bothering me but I didn't know what, until it was pointed out. Of course it's the headlights.

Any ideas why this late Disco 2 would have the earlier headlights?

Anything dodgy, do you think?

I hope that's slightly better for my 2nd post:D I do take a while to warm up!!!

Originals may have been nicked and those were a cheap fix ;) if not late registered vehicle for some weird reason or export import jobby

Thanks Dr evil

The car spent most of its life on the Isle of Man, I wonder if that would be classed as an import:confused:

Well what ever the reason, I think a bit of digging is required. It does put serious doubt in my mind as whether to proceed with this particular car.

I wonder of there are any other changes to the facelift model?

Bumper was different for sure, but what about interior?

The wiring for the headlamp bulbs is different so look out for custom wiring for the headlamp. Facelift had two separate bulbs whereas preface lift had 1, an h4 to be precise.

Thing is with h4 when you high beam you also switch off the low beam whereas with the facelift when you high beam the low beam stays on.

Check this out to perhaps "shed some light"

Could have been a late registration, no harm in that, but I think the manufacture year/model year is in the chassis number.

Usually 9th or 10th digit in modern cars but my land rover has the model year code JA in it which means 92, nice and simple cos its a J reg.

Perhaps post up the chassis number :)

Facelift had CDL that u could engage

I'm thinking it must be a late registration seeing as the dvla info is a bit patchy.

Need chassis number to find out when it was built:
