Td5 or disco 3

Hi i. Looking to buy a disco for green laning and the odd day event what do people think about the disco 3 are these ok with goin thru water with the amount of electrics they have on them as iv been told the ecu on a td5 is low down in the engine bay

For the D3 you can now buy a piece of kit that allows you to adjust the airbags front and rear. So you can if you want fit a +2" lift to it, then have it adjust automatically to ride at the std height when driving on the road, but then it also means you can adjust it higher.

I have seen this in action and it works great.

Butythe right D3 and spend a few pounds kitting it out at the right supplier and you could get a really nice piece of kit.
It is not going to be cheap, but if you have a budget in mind for the vehicle and then the mods.

Hi thanks for that do you no if the d3 are ok thru deep water with a snorkel on are advise against it due to the electrics on these

A Raised Air Intake (RAI) isn't designed for deep water wading. It's designed to allow the engine to breathe clean dust free air when used in dusty environments. They normally have a water drain hole in the bottom, to allow water out, should it get in. This water drain will allow water in, so the vehicle be driven in water deep enough to submerge the bottom of the RAI.
The D3 has a maximum wading depth of 700mm, with the suspension at off road hight, but LR don't suggest running in water deeper than the height of the upper wheel rim. Going deeper risks water getting into places where its not welcome, like the alternator, timing belt, air intake or the interior.

Just buy a decent D3 ecu is high up behind the battery, some lift rods will add 2.5/3 inches without any issues for off reading and can be swopped back in 5 mins for the road.

In the driving aspect and offroad the D3 runs rings around the D2..

D3 is a nice piece of kit.
