TD5 Oil Light coming on after replacement clutch

Hello

I wonder if anyone could offer me any advice.

Twelve months ago I had a clutch replaced in my Defender TD5 at a garage. Since that date the vehicle has done just 3000 miles and last week I noticed the clutch was slipping once again. I contacted the garage that had done the original clutch replacement and they offered to drop the gearbox and investigate the problem.

The clutch was found to be knackered but they told me that the cause of the problem was the flywheel which had worn and sadly it was not covered by warranty. They replaced the flywheel and replaced the clutch at a cost of about £950.

Last Saturday I went to collect the vehicle and on the way home the oil warning light started to flicker. I checked the oil and it is full to the top mark on the dipstick so there is no shortage of oil.

I know for certain that the oil light was not coming on prior to the flywheel being replaced.

What I am asking is there any possible connection between the the flywheel and clutch being replaced and the oil light and of course what should I do.

My mechanical knowledge is very limited so any help would be appreciated.

Could be the oil pressure sender ..... or the oil pump. Sort it quickly as a failing/failed oil pump will kill your TD5 engine in no time at all. Some engines have had the oil pump sprocket come loose as LR forgot to use threadlock.
 
they should have done dual mass flywheel at same time as original clutch,its std practice as damper part of clutch is now in flywheels not in the springs in clutch plate
 
Yes but could the Oil Light Coming on now be anything to do with the recent work or is it just a co-incidental.

What is involved in checking oil pressure?

Replacing oil pump?

I have telephoned the garage and they have said bring it back but dont feel inclined to drive it anywhere until I know more about the problem.

Also given the history do not have a lot of faith in the garage.

First thing I'd do is look for the wire to the oil pressure sender and make sure its connected. They may have unplugged it during the clutch work and not reconnected it properly or at all.
The pressure sensor screws into the oil cooler housing above the oil filter.

Thanks to everyone who has replied.
Took the vehicle back to the garage and it was found that when putting the gearbox back in a wire had been knocked loose.

all ok now.
