td5 non standard drain plug on gearbox

hi.it seems my r380 gearbox on my 2004 defender has a square drive drainplug rather than the expected 32mm plug, has anyone seen this before please? It's visible on the plug just left of the serial number flat. Thanks v much

its normal on later gear boxes
