Hi there I have a 110 td5 which won't go into reverse when engine running but will when engine off - 1st gear is a bit stiff otherwise 2,3,4 ok haven't tried 5. Live in a remote place & friendly local garage is suggesting hydraulic cylinder master & slave change out to start at the obvious external things - fluid levels checked. I have read other helpful posts about using ATF & checking dirty selectors/plunger - are these likely in this case & is the hydraulic topic a good place to start ? Thanks

baulk ring is worn ,very common on reverse gear ,it needs a ftc3584

rear ali case needs to come off but main case doesnt need splitting unless doing other baulk rings

Not wishing to state the obvious, but have you checked the oil level? Oops sorry, didn't read your post properly so obviously not oil levels. However I would still check the oil level just to be on the safe side, was it checked hot or cold?

if its going in to first ok ,its not clutch issue
