TD5 low power Air flow fault

get rid of the egr valve and remap it... I just saw your used to a disco 4... Td5 is a slug in comparison in standard form... However once running well and remapped will out pull most of its newer contenders
 
Ideal MAF at idle is around 55, that 320 is irrelevant as long as we dont know the MAP reading at that point, ideal maximum MAF reading UNDER LOAD is around 600+ provided the MAP is around 230 then cos the boost and the sucction must be related ...also a good MAF must have 2 filaments... you can't check the DCV just by blowing throug it the only way to rule it out 100% is to put a new genuine one

So the MAF is low then? Would I be gaining anything by replacing it?

Yeah I've removed the egr valve yesterday, I'm going for a remap when I've sorted other things out, still got gearbox and transfer box leaks, rear diff leak, rear crank seal leak, possible knackered flywheel and a more than worn out propshaft doughnut so I've got my work cut out! Just want to get the engine running well then go through one job at a time. I've just welded the rear part of the chassis up the side of the fuel tank which is one of the major jobs done but I've got plenty more yet before it's Right!
 
Not sure if you will gain a lot but I'm sure someone who knows more this me could tell you... Depending on budget I would swap it but I'm a fussy bugger though... I know people are against them but I recently put a pipercross filter on mine and it made the airflow slightly higher... For better or for worse as they say
 
I dont know what you can gain as long as we dont know that the reading is low or the real air flow.... though i agree that you might not have any problem other than expecting from a standard Td5 to get even close to a D4

I understand that, I'm not comparing it to a d4 I'm just trying to figure out if there are power losses because towing with it is an absolute nightmare, as soon as you sir any weight on the back it just seems to lose loads of power, and I don't think having to slip the clutch on flat ground with 2 tonne on the back is right, these cars are supposed to be rated to tow 3.5 and if mine is right I wouldn't even contemplate it.
Maybe I just see how it performs over the next month or so and try to get my other problems fixed then go for a remap when I'm ready as a capable towing vehicle is an absolute must for me
 
From what you say it does seem like it is on the low side power wise, maybe get it on a rolling road generally costs about £30. A standard Td5 should put out at least 100bhp and 250nm (official figures are 122 and 300, but allow for the loss of escaped horses lol) If it comes back less then you have an issue for sure

I would say the MAF is on the low side.
