Hello everyone! This is my first post here. :)

I have been trying to find information about the inside dimensions of the Td5, but with no success.. To be more exact I need to find out what is the distance from the back of the fron seats to the trunk door? My english is not very good so I hope that people understand what I mean. Is it possible for an adult to sleep comfortably in the Disco with the rear seats folded down? Does anyone have pics of the Disco interior with the rear seats folded down?

I'm an amateur nature photographer and for example I'm planning to drive to the arctic sea to shoot some rugged landscapes. This is what I'd want to use the Disco for, in addition to everyday use of course. I would very much want to spend the nights inside the car rather than in a tent.

Also, does anyone here have experience with the Td5 in a very cold climate? Are there any special cold climate parts or accessories available? So far I have found information about Optima batteries and seat heaters.

Any info is more than welcome! :)

Yes you will be able to sleep in the back.

It will run no problem in the cold climates, they have been used to travel round the world, literly, through Russia, Alaska etc... without any problems. Make sure its got a good strong mix of anti freeze etc... worth getting a deep cycle battery, aswell as a dual battery setup.

Get oil for the engine suited to the cold.

Radiator muff might be usefull, how cold is cold?

Correct tyres, your average tyres for extreem cold are not good enough.

A good alternator is a must. Check your heating system, diesel fuel heater maybe.

Put silicone on the rubber linings around the doors a thin oil in the lock cylinders.

Thanks for the info!

Cold around here is, well, pretty cold at times. A few years back we had -51 degrees Celcius. Thats something like -60 degrees Fanhrenheit I think. My petrol engined car with Optima Yellow Top battery never missed a beat, but diesel cars were in trouble. I guess that there are fuel heaters available for diesel Land Rovers.

Extreme temps like -50C are not very common, but temps like -30C are. This year has been pretty warm, though.

How powerful is the standard alternator in a Disco? Enough for dual battery setup or should I upgrade?

Tyres aren't a problem as we normally use studded tyres anyway. We have icy roads for 6 months of the year. I'm more worried about the Td5 engine coping with the cold. I have seen even the big semi trucks freezing to death in Lapland. I'm not intending to go out specifically looking for troubles in the cold, but it's always good to be prepared and with my luck the temps drop to new records every time I decide to go out on a trip...:(
