Following on from the injector seals I’ve ordered them from Grange LZ should have them tomorrow, I bumped into a mechanic out side and he told me that they can’t always get hold of genuine LZ spares for the older models and are quite happy to use Britparts if they have to ..hopefully I’ll have another go on Saturday weather permitting..also he said that if you change one injector with out entering the code in his experience it doesn’t normally make much difference as the tolerances are marginal ..thoughts on that anyone? Oh they charge £200 per hour ? Wonder if they have any jobs going ffs

Is there likely to be a big difference between copper washers? One point I found a little awkward was making sure the washer stayed in position while placing injector back in the bore. How does eveyrone else do this?

I’ve rebuilt many engines and once worked on HGV rolls Royce engines so I do all my own work, I’ve done a few injector seal changes and had no problem with this TD5 b4 ..it primes and starts ok after changing the copper washers then after about an hour it starts it’s old tricks again turning over and over till it finally starts then drives fine no missing - pressure seems ok then leave it for 20 min fine - go back out in it turn it off won’t start! Initially it seems cured then like an ex wife comes back to haunt me !! I’m ordering the copper washers from LZ and go from there ..back in ole reliable Mgf with K series engine- rebuilt that asw ..I’ll check for cracks and dirt asw

Suspect I'd be trying to teach you to suck eggs then! After shutdown when it won't start again does it need purging again to get it to start? Fuel filter heads can corrode and go porous and the internal gubbins can fail if you havnt already checked this

Do you mean you put the washer in the hole and then put the injector in? or you put the washer on the end of the injector and then put the injector into the head?

Cheers

Gently place it on the injector first with a bit of grease to hold it in place. You can bend the washer if you're too rough. Must Be dead flat against the bottom of the injector body

I used a little bit of oil to get it to stay on a little precariously. I wanted to use grease but wasn't sure if it might affect anything. I will use grease next time. Thanks.

As far as I know a very small amount is, but if the injector stem was too corroded there'd be problems
Cheers I’ve got the LR injector seals today and the copper washers from LR are at least .5mil bigger out side diameter and the rubber O rings look chunkier ..I notice on the previous failed copper washer I took out had pitting on the front where it meets the head which would point to grit being present-I’m gonna be surgically clean this time !!!

Changed the copper seals no.3 had carbon leak !!! I cleaned it and scraped any carbon spots I could see and used an electrical spray to clean the seating and used compressed air to blow and debris from inside..I noticed the green pipe from the tank has a leak ? Is their an easy fix or is it carpet out rear seats out job !!! I turned the pipe from side to side it stopped for a while but up to its old tricks ? Genuine LR or EBay ?used genuine LR seals

Leaking green high pressure pipe near back axle ..does it need to be changed or is their a quick fix? Think it’s from the pump ..is that center boss where the pipes fit in does that come with the pipe ?
