A independant LR mechanic is quoting me a price to fix the Injector harness as he as explained i have leaking oil down into me ECU.

I informed him i can pick a Genuine LR part on ebay and he informed me there are 2 harnesses on the injectors. one is the injector harness that is cheap and the other is the main engine harness (dearer one)

Is this true....

That is correct. The actual fault is with the seal (grommet) on the actual injector wiring loom. The more expensive one is the connecting wiring harness. You should be able to clean this one up rather than replace it.

if the dealer was doing the job then they would replace both because some oil would still drain out the engine loom after the problem was fixed and it would be too expensive to remove the loom split it put it back together and refit it but if it was my car (and have done this) i would fit a new injector loom and clean the ecu plugs out every week untill i get no more oil coming threw
bit mor info here thanks to U.P www.discovery2.co.uk / Workshop /Injector Harness

Hi,

Read this thread last night & thought I better check mine:doh: The red plug was soaking with oil. Phoned my main dealer, they had it in stock £42 in total & it only took about 1-1/2 hrs to do the job.

Car was running great with no issues but the amount of oil that came out of my ECU was amazing. If you haven't checked your's you better have a look sooner rather than later.

Thanks lads for the thread
