Sometimes the TD5 will start like normal (very rare)

Red light on dash does not go out.

Changed Fob battery. Sometimes does not do door locks.

Have tried auto electricians said the key needs checking, lock smiths said its electrical no point checking!

Am totally goosed. Recently put in a new engine, 79k.

Any help as to who I go to? Am based near Wrexham

(btw, having extreme bad luck, as the ford focus immobiliser has gone also...)

UPDATE - I have used the keys (not fob) to lock the vehicle, now when I unlock it the alarm goes off.

HEllo thanks for replying

Could the RF Reciever be having problems as it is a sunroof model and it could be getting wet?? Just trying to find a guide to replace the reciever and where to get a replacement

thank you

I had mine out, the rf receiver that is, and you just need a small ratchet to undo the 2 bolts. Wedge something in-between the roof and liner to allow access. Can do it sitting in middle rear seat. Its just forward of the rear sunroof ( thanks Land Rover for that....)

Managed to inpit the eka into the drivers door had spend £18 get the code and now it turns on but cannot lock off the fob
Had to PAY to get the code? Which bas tard made you pay? LR mainstealer usually gives you all codes for free on simple production of proof of ownership. What a facer!
If you lock and unlock the car with the key, this is only what we have to do whenever we leave the dogs in the car, while travelling. We don't find it a problem. But then it does still put the normal alarm on, just cuts out the movement sensor inside.
Very weird about all this. Best of luck with it!

Well I don't know how positive it is, as I got a bill for over £600 to get it fixed haha!!!! Although that includes sunroofs being fixed from leaking, and the ABS sensor being fixed. Thought may as well get it all done since I love being broke.

Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittttttttttt!!!!!!!!
Still stuff fixed, at least for a while!:):):):)

Yeah the bolts holding my rf unit as well as the earth point had surface rust. So a little wire wool could fix that.
Glad its sorted and wasn’t anything more painful. Although £600 is pretty painful!!

Hi All, I am also having a problem getting the EKA code for my 2004 TD5, looks like I have the same problem as Muddygamekeeper, both keyfobs failed to open and using the key to get in now I can't start the beast. Contacted the nearest dealership in Aberystwyth and they didn't want to know just gave me a defunct email address to contact. Tried Land Rover themselves using their "Contact Us" web page but no one has bothered to answer as yet so it looks like I also may have to pay £18 for it :-(
Am I right in assuming that I will have to completely drop the head lining in the rear to get at the RF receiver (have one on order), this vehicle has no sun roof just in case. Currently stranded at home with no transport which in this part of Wales ain't funny :-[

If no sunroofs the headlining must come undone untill the middle... i dont understand why the headrests must be removed

but what if i's some other problem not the receiver? ... so if you get the EKA code remobilise it and find somebody close with nanocom and disable the alarm/immobiliser then it will be sartable even if you open with the key... while it's immobilised the BCU won't talk with diagnostics

scroll up the map in the link and if you find somebody close register to d2boysclub and ask for help and i'm sure you'll get it, closest to you seems to be in Penpark https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?ie=UTF8&hl=en&oe=UTF8&msa=0&ll=4.370151119207972,0&z=2&mid=1PmbphOvO47RAsn1ZdQFDD-ed-zo .. or buy a tester which will pay for itself in short time

sierraferry , thanks for that info and the pictures. I am on the west coast of mid Wales so the two closest D2BC members are some distance away on the map link you sent.
The vehicle does stand outside in this rather wet location so I'm assuming it is a damp/corrosion problem and as neither of my two fobs would open the car I suppose the receiver is the first check to make.
Being ancient and having heart failure does somewhat limit my abilities but once I can get the EKA code I'm willing to have a go :) I'll have a look at a Nanocom and see what they are all about. I am not unfamiliar with computer/electronic technology used to teach it, just wish they would stop putting it in vehicles that are out in all weathers :)
