Hi Folks,
Just got my first TD5 and was looking for some advice on servicing and 'snagging'...
Have only just driven it and (after filling it up for £118!) noticed some faults that I could do with some pointers on please.
1) the windscreen wipers don't go back on their own, is this and easy fix?
2) central locking doesn't seem to work on all the doors. Is this a common issue and can anyone advise where to look (relays etc)
3) it's done 130k, should I change the auto box oil?
4) steering is stiff, feels like tracking is out. Is this likely?
5) always service my own vehicles, anything odd on the TD5 I need to know about?

6) I am so happy I've got another Disco!!!!

1. Faulty self park switch, maybe, yes an easy fix if u have the skill in wiper-motor repairs.
2. Yes common, look at replacing locks.
3. That depends on when it was last replaced, but there's nothing to stop u replacing the fluid is there.
4. Could be, more like stiff steering joints some where.
5. As far a servicing a Td5 it's just a standard diesel-engine.

2 oil filters! thanks didn't know that.

Ref the door locks, they lock ok via the fob but don't open. The servos obviously work but only one way. Could it be a sticky switch?

Loads of info on this lock issue in this and other Forums, so I won't repeat other than each lock has two servos (actuator) lock-unlock.

Hi I change my locks when they didn't work on the key,I brought second hand ones from roverviews near oxford new Melton very good service and only cost about £80 for a front and the back door

Drop the sump and renew the oil pump bolt with loctite and let it set before reassembly.
Did mine and caught it just in time, was walking out of the threads-known failure on early engines
