Alright guys
Got a 2003 TD5 GS Auto that's giving me grief again. Was going down the motorway and felt a clunk through the floor. Everything stayed normal, so just ignored it. About an hour later stopped at the shops, turned the engine back on, and an almighty grinding sound - everyone around was staring - and continued as i tried to drive off but then stopped after about 2 mins. It felt like it was coming from the gearbox area, but can't see any leaks or anything, and the car seems fine again now  Any ideas what it could be???

Cheers,
TM

The first thing I would do is get underneath and check the props; u/j's; and have a good look around.

the propshafts/UJs was my first thought too, but the noise was happening when when the car was in park. It sounded almost like a very very loose exhaust pipe rattling badly, but the pipe is tight, and the drive wasn't consistent, drive seemed to come in waves when the grinding was happening, looked underneath and everything looks to be ok
