I recently replaced the fuel pump on my disco 2 and the new one works ok, pump wise, but the fuel guage reading seems to be missing about 20 litres of the tank.

If I fill up, sure enough the guage goes up, but then gradually drops a bit faster than before. I've checked the mpgs and they're the same as before, but now according to the fuel guage my range on a full tank is about 500 miles rather than 600.

Any ideas??

Thanks
Ian

did you fit a genuine pump or copy part..had similar problem on mine cause i fitted copy part and then had issues regarding the fuel gauge..a few mounths later something melted in the pump and sent a serge back to my dash controlls and killed it...so if you didnt get a genuine pump i suggest to send the one you have back and then buy a geniune landrover pump..i will not be using copy parts on mine at all naw,,especialy after what it cost me..hope that helps..:)

Its a copy part as I didn't fancy shelling out £300 for a genuine landy one. Has anyone else had problems with non genuine landy fuel pumps - dunno if I can summon the courage to buy a genuine one when the copy ones are a third of the price

Thanks
Ian

Take the pump back out and bend the sender arm a bit, they often need calibrated (even the OE ones).

If it's reading 20l too low, then you need to bend the float down a bit so that it pushes the sensor further over.
