td5 fuel problems

my fuel pressure regulator has been dripping, so i replaced it yesterday, today i used the car and the fuel pipe with the red clip on what i believe is a fuel cooler came off and dumped half a tank of diesel onto the road, is this a loose pipe and a coincidence, or do i have a problem with fuel pressure now ?

If the pipe came off its not surprising you lost that amount of diesel. The fuel pump runs at more than 60psi. I'd say the pipe was not clipped back properly after changing the FPR. Always give them a tug after reconnecting to make sure the clips have sprung into place. Also check the little o ring is present. I give the connectors a squirt of WD40 to clear out any crap before reconnecting. If the pipe is clipped on properly the connectors will handle double the fuel pressure with ease.
