:( :( Going to work the other day doing about 60mph car just lost power and died tried to restart but battery flattened ended up on back of recovery truck, recharged battery tried starting at first seemed like starter motor jammed then turned over, got it going throws out loads of white smoke and seems like firing on four pots fuel seems to be coming out of exhaust manifold at a good rate after about 15 mins it just dies and if i try to start before cool the starter jams any ideas please,:(

Sounds like a leaking injector washer or failed unit injector, doubt the starter is jammed - more likely a hydraulic lockup. The white smoke is unburnt fuel.

i thought that myself but somebody said head gasket but it is not losing any water and oil is good, there was a load of sparks inside the engine compartment so i wondered if there had been some kind of short causing one of the injectors to malfunction thanks for your feedback.

They seemed to be coming from down where the starter is situated this happened after i got the vehicle home and recharged the battery when the car actually cut out there was no smoke,it just died no noise nothing just died, then when battery recharged after all the sparks and a lot of turning over it kicked up on four then like i say died when warm

Think you may have a loose starter wire, thats no big deal - but the 4cyls bit is more of a worry.Stick it on Testbook and see which one is playing up,Td5's often have loads of faults logged that relate to old issues or bad hair split seconds.Clear them and fire it up again and see what comes back,I think one of the unit injectors may have a stuck nozzle, flooding that cyl with fuel, or a leaking washer.

Sounds like the injector solenoid has sealed the spill port off, which obviously allows fuel to be pumped into the cylinder at a great rate and totally out of control. Suspect a faulty injector, but also might be a computer/electrical fault.
It looks as though it's going to be expensive whatever it is.
I would like to hear what the actual fault was when you get it fixed.

Best of luck

I will be doing the work myself as i have got plenty of spare injectors so the cost will not be that bad as it is just the job of programming the ecu that concerns me i have the obd2 interface but can not seem to find software that will allow me to write to the ecu

If you have spare injectors then you should be ok,unless you get a lumpy idle or poor top end performance I wouldnt worry about rewriting the injector codes, just make a note of what you put where and leave it till it needs to go on Testbook again.Biggest problem is working out which cyl is causing the problem without Testbook. You cant just slacken off an injector pipe to see which pot isnt firing ! Also the EUI's allow fuel to run down into the bores from the rail when you pull them out,so unless one pot has loads of fuel in it you wont be any the wiser.Might even be worth pulling the exhaust manifold away from the head and seeing if one of the ports is wet - pain to do but cant think of any easy way to diagnose it.
Make sure you change the EUI o rings aswell, or you will be filling the sump up with diesel too !
Good luck.

I can reprogram the injector codes if needed.

If you have a eeprom programmer i can also make this available via the internet :)
