Does anyone know how hard it is to get the td5 lump out of a Disco. 1999 V reg. Oil pump died, yes the bolt, and want to fit another engine. Done a 200tdi conversion in my defender and it was easy. How easy is it to get the td5 out? Any ideas of the process? Access to bolts on bellhousing? Thanks

if you have done a 200 then you have an idea of whats involved the only thing with the td5 is its bigger and has alot more wires and pipes to remove the bellhousing bolts are ok bar 1 its behind the fuel pressure regulator
the other thing is do you no about the injectors they have codes that have to be programed in to your ecu so you need to have them programed or swop them over (the codes are on the injectors) will run with the wrong codes if you need to drive some where to get them programed

Thanks for the reply. Can you get to the bolts from underneath, or do you need to start dismantling the interior?! Did you say it would run on the new injectors just to get me to Landrover or a specialist? Fancy a complete engine rebuild rather than exchange... any thing to be aware of or is it all pretty straight forward?

most of the bolts for the bellhousing can be done from underneath but the top 2 need to be done from above the one on the nearside is not to bad to get at there is also one no the off side in the same place (need to get the black cover off the back of the head)
you can run the engine to get you to a garage if it runs ok some people never change them
just rembered the top bolt on the starter motor is also a real pig
