TD5 Electrics

My 02 TD5 has developed some electrical issues, firstly, the reversing light and parking sensor sometimes come on when driving and stay on. Sometimes turning the engine off clears it, sometimes not. The wipers sometimes don't park themselves and I have to manually park them. When I'm towing, the indicators on the trailer stop when I brake and come on again when I come off the brakes.... is all this connected? I'm planning on taking it to the shop, but theres going to be a long wait for a space, wondered if this was an easy fix. Someone has suggested the ECU needs replacing... I have no idea. Cheers Sam

l would suggest you have 3 different problems there none of them ECU related: reversing light/parking sensors could be your reversing light switch needs re-adjusting (winding out a thread or two). The wipers not parking is a fairly common issue which involves a repair to the wiper motor or replacement (one of the three internal contacts cracks then breaks off ). The towing gremlin is also extremely common and usually a bad earth / contact in the towing plug.

A bad earth can cause problems like this. Check them all, and there are quite a few on a D2.
