Having not got upclose and personal with my engine yet I can only assume the TD5 runs a re circulating dump valve

Is there any benefit to fitting an atmospheric valve

I am just getting into the ways of tuning diesels and arn't sure how much transfers across from tuning petrol engines yet

ps: its not just for the chavy ppshhhhhhh

its a defender.
thanks for the info, I am starting to get my head around diesels
Cheers

Is this because as G-man said there is no butterfly so there is never a need to reduce presure in a partially sealed section of intake

Iam learning:)
Correct. Engine speed and power is controlled by how much fuel is injected. You can turn the turbo boost up all you like but unless you give it more fuel then the gains are minimal and often detrimental. You can run a diesel engine with no inlet manifold and it will run just fine. Not recommended though.
