TD5 dreadful starter & runs with fuel starvation symptons

Now the latest in the saga. Started it up this morning, real pain to start, then it cut out after 5 mins without leaving the yard.
This is getting a bit tedious now.

If you have done injector seals- fuel pressure readings would be a good idea, fuel pressure regulators are known to go faulty but I thought it was leaks generally.

it may also be worth investigating the associated relays for any signs of burning etc

also what is crank sensor readings like when hot as it is possible the sensor fails hot

I had similiar problem with my 2001 TD5 not long ago. Would only start when cold after allowing pump to run for 30-40s and glow to extinguish, ran fine for tens of miles or more until engine hot, then just lost power and stalled when pulled over. Wouldn't re-start until engine left for 30-60 mins until engine cooled. Would then re-start and run okay for a bit until same happened or until AA recovered me! This happened on 3/4 separate occasions, gradually getting worse each time.

Thought fuel starvation was due to a dodge fuel pump so replaced but problem continued (nice quiet pump now though!). Had it diagnosed by diesel fuel system experts and it turned out that in service performed not long before, the 'so called Land Rover specialist' garage (who shall remain nameless) had replaced fuel filter but not installed plug/bungs correctly in fuel filter. Apparently they come with bungs in wrong holes or summat and they have to be switched around. Unsure if this is particular to Bearmach filters or all brands. Running fine now though! Think from now on I'll do my own servicing!

Oh, I also had a problem at same time with smoking but this turned out to be a dodgy injector seal, don't believe it caused the fuel starvation problem.

Good morning Ladies & Gentlemen.
Have solved the mystery. After all the new parts etc, i found that the fuel pipe (high pressure side), with the rubber hose on as mentioned earlier was collapsing internaly thus restricting the fuel flow.
Renewed the pipe with Diesel friendly hose, cleaned the small filter in the head incase of debris & all seems well at the moment.
Many thanks one & all for all your advice & suggestions.
VIVE LA DISCO 2!!
