Probably been covered a 100 times but 101.......

Need a full set of front door hinges for 2003 TD5

Should i buy genuine ones or aftermarket?

And where?

There are some heavy duty ones on eBay I was tempted with. I got just the one cheap standard one from the Land Rover parts place in Liverpool on the way to the boat home in August, not fantastic quality but has done the job and less slack than the worn one I took off.

I repaired my own with a stainless m8 bolt solid as a rock
Also drilled and tapped for an m6 grease nipple note the grub screw

Just Knocks out takes a good wack though, I drilled the top and centre parts of the hinge to 8mm and I tapped the lower parts for an m8 thread, I used an m8 x 80 mm stainless socket cap as the shoulder is about the right length, think I had to cut the thread another couple of mm to allow for the counter sunk head. The door is the best it's been no movement at tall, much better than the cheapo replacements. Think I got the info from a previous post on hear so I'm not the first to do this.

Cheers, think I'll give that a bash.

tis very impressive!!

I changed my hinges the other week... tried to sort the door lines out, seems my bulkhead wants leaning forwards but just the thought of it kills me..

Yep, 'tis a crap job to do, doubt it'll go vary far with the wings still bolted up either, so even worse of a job than if it was in bits.

SPlandrovers supplied mine - seem fine. I was paranoid about getting the old ones off my 2001 TD5 with all the stories. Sprayed WD40 up the bulkhead a few weeks before trying, put penetrating oil on them from outside a few times - they came off first go! wow
