Ok, my crank pulley is knocking. I've got another on order but it'll be a few days before it gets out here, so my stupid question is......
If I continue driving, is it likely to cause damage, like fall off, or just make an annoying noise till its replaced?
Thanks all

Mine let go last year, it sounds terrible as the outer rim of the pulley is no longer attached to the inner hub, the belt will be jumping about, I don't know if the outer pull can break free but it would be wise to use it as little as possible.
Have you worked out how you will get the centre bolt out? It's pretty dammed tight.

Yep, seen that thanks, more concerned as to whether it'll fall off in the next week or so, typically its going to snow for the next week and a 206CC isn't the ideal car for snow and ice at nearly 2500 feet!

My kind of repair!
Thanks for that one.
Just hope the glue holds... that harmonic balancer is a hefty weight, subjected to inertia forces when the engine starts and spins at the speed of the crankshaft. Mine was knocking a bit and here's what I found when I took it off-

Only held on by one bolt as two of the lugs had snapped. I would imagine that if the the last one had gone, that weight would have bounced around the engine bay, most likely making a fine mess of whatever it hit....

Eeek! Looking at that, think we'll forget glue, welding may be a better short term answer I think!

Probably better. Tip- to undo the bolt, rest your breaker bar on the chassis (right hand side as you look from the front) and flick the engine on then off quickly. Just make sure you turn it off... quickly...
Doing it back up, use a cranked viscous fan spanner on one of the 3 pulley bolts, braced against the socket. Your scaffold bar will give you enough torque to tighten it enough. If you don't do it up tight enough, you will know because the bolt will come loose, undo itself, jam the fan and the steering will go heavy as the power steering pump stops due to the slipping belt. Guess how I know that....
