now the misfire is constant..
i have cleaned the ecu conections as there were signs of oil, but still missing..
could i be ready for a engine loom ??
any ideas whats involved to change this ??
thanks

no smoke at all..
have cleaned conectors to ecu with contact cleaner and air..
do i strip black sheathing off loom to clean ??and if so how for back ??

Mine was misfiring, especially when cold. Irritating thing was that sometimes it ran perfectly - smooth and powerful. Did several long distance runs which helped a bit but still some days was as rough as hell. New injector loom didn't help, nor did Redex. Recently have been leaving engine to run for thirty seconds after starting before touching anything else. Since then, no problem, even on short journeys.

Is it luck, co-incidence or warmer weather? :):):)

TD5 2000 GS auto

looks like i'm not so lucky..
on start up it does run nice and even for around 7 or 8 seconds then becomes all uneven and lumpy..
it has not run corectly for a few days now and i,m begining to put off using it and take the wifes 206 cabriolet !!! PLEASE HELP i don't want to be branded a hairdresser !!!!!!!!

I had a misfire on my 2000 series 2. Ran perfectly up to about 1800rpm then started missing & farting. Tried the oil in the loom check but fine. To shorten a very long & expensive story it turned out to be a seized waste gate control on the turbo. To check remove engine covers as necessary & have someone rev the engine while you observe the control rod on the turbo. It should move as rpm varies. If it doesn't then there is a problem.

Good luck

Hi been having simular problems with a 2002 td5 checked wiring loom and changed injector harness still not cured changed heater plugs
In the end stripped and changed injector seals and washers seems to be running a lot better well for a week then the water pump gave up the ghost so waiting for a new one from england but the td5 at about 100,000 mile will need new seals on the injectors
Hope this helps Gary
