Guys

Finaly done my injector o rings and copper washes, all went well, car started ran fine did a couple fo short test drives, then on the way home form my parents house going along a nice dark dual carriage way, i lost power no power in any gear unable to rev it at all and then died on the carriage way had to get wife and kids out pretty quick.

Got it recovered by RAC after a long wait for a truck, anyone got any words of wisdom before i start taking the head apart again?

Taking a wild stab in the dark, how far did you travel before breaking down? I ask because mine used to get 2-3 miles then conk out. That was before i did the injector washers. I know you have done them but could still be getting air into system...unlikely to be fuel pipe 'cos you'd notice it ****ing out from the pressure of the system.

Exactly, everyone i spoke to said "fuel pump", had previously had it out, dismantled and cleaned it, so decided to try washers and o rings first cos cheaper, sorted. £8.56 for parts!

well thats another thought on my problem, fitted a new pump and have been messing with fuel line connections on the filter housing
did yours do it all the time or only if you drove it like you stole it?

Had a funny turn, noisy pump and an arse to start, looked on here, say Cherles Y's post re dirty pump, cleaned pump, fine for two months. Started again, cleaned pump (missus had let it run low on fuel) no joy, deaed noisy pump, cut out after 2-3 miles, arsey to start and the 3rd time it cut out had to get a tow off me mate's 300tdi. Never lived it down!
Washers sorted it. Although filter head was a suspect as there's no guard round it and it looks buggered, that's getting swapped out when i can find a cheap one just in case.

i am having the same problem at the moment but mine doesnt die it just looses power and wont rev past 2000-3000 rpms and wont go over 35 mph ..ive changet washers seals as you and new fuel pump + filter ,throttle pedal pressure regulator and still tryin ...let me know what problems you find

sounds like yours could be the low pressure pipes letting in air on the filter housing try some PTFE tape on the pipes the connectors slot onto
has cut down on the frequency of the problem for me just when you least expect it to pack up now

Looks like you've got the ECU in "limp home " mode.
Find soneone with a Hawkeye, Nanocon or Testbook to sort youe problem.
It may well be cheaper.

airhoook

not me mate has been on a nanacom a snapon and another pro dino and all have shown zero faults so has to be machanical as apose to electronic

is the fuel pump winning and screaching like a strangled cat when the ignition is on?

Yes it is guessing that one of the washes has not sealed properly, got about 10 miles before it died and will not restart at the mo, going to strip it out again tonight, got another set of washes and o rings to try again.

How hard shoudl you push the injectors back in i did torque them all down to 32NM as per the manual.

Theres a non return valve in the air bleed pipe on the fuel filter housign i changed this and it helped was £13 from landrvoer there is also a one way valave on the return for £20 you probably don't need that one.
