My defender td5 seems to lack a little in the braking department, I recently upgraded to vented front disks (almost new) and it seems a bit better, but not 100% convinced, may be the pads need a few miles to bed in or maybe I am comparing it to other modern cars I drive, the freelander 2 is like hitting a brick wall when you brake hard.
Today I took out the silicon plug I used to close the vacuum pipe tee when I took the egr out and connected a digital pressure gauge, started the engine and it reads minus 0.27 bar, press the brake pedal it goes to minus 0.10 and then returns quickly to minus 0.27 bar seems to work as I expected it to, but does anyone know the correct vacuum level when it is OK?
I also pressed the pedal a few times then started the engine while holding the brake pedal, I could feel the servo kick in but not in a big way, anyone had similar problems?
