td5 bonnet help please

hi rebuilding my 90 and purchased a great bonnet but when i close it it catches on my expansion tank, if i remove the cap it closes how to do i cure this, many thanks, mine is a 300tdi

I would drop the tank a little, if it closes for the sake of the thickness of the cap I would not be concerned about it being too low.

Look how it is mounted, mine is mounted onto the fold back on the wing with a support down to the inner wing, you may need to make 2 small standoffs so you can drop it 1/2 an inch or whatever.

It seems like the only option worth considering.

what about adjusting the rubber stops on the front of the bonnet?

If he increases the length of the stops he will then have latch problems as it stands the extra height of the expansion cap appears to be too much (it is probably about 1/4 of an inch, which will be more at the latch) as he says it doesn't close at the moment, i.e. the latch won't latch, so if he lifted it on the stops the latch still would not latch. Also these bonnets have a big enoguh gap around them as it is!

you could try just removing the cap and replacing it with a peice of cling film and a rubber band

Or ye could check to see if they plastic things that fit into the hooks on the bulkhead are fitted the right way

6 small washers mat brings it out just right i have the tdci bonnet and its as easy as that
