A few months ago I went through some water perhaps top of the wheel deep and the battery light came on! Replaced the alternator no problems!

Been off roading today and as soon as I went in the water battery light came on!! so gave it a tap with a bar and light goes out! It then came on a few other times but a tap sorted it!

So is it just one of them things or is there anyway of protecting the alternator?

Clean all the connectors. Im on my third alternator after off roading at Bures, went a few weeks ago and the bugger has started to whistle again. Get your old one reconned for about £60 and keep as a spare, as for protecting it i asked this question a while back and someone said you can get some kind of cover others say it makes it overheat. If you find an answer let me know i am fecked off with keep replacing them.

Thanks, it's bloody annoying though as I couldnt go half the places I wanted to at buildwas today and this alternator cost me £150
