Has anyone done a 2" lift on disco series 2 ? is it straight forward on front, and is the rear just like spacers on the airbags? do the props need changin ? brake pipes etc.. and does ecu ( air suspension) detect difference? and finally what would ride be like after? many questions, but hopefully simple fa someone in the know???

theres is someone on here who has done all of that and can help, im sure hel be along soon

Foss is your man

I have done all that too. if u keep the air bags u dont need to mess with the slabs ecu, it is advised to fit +2'' brake lines as i manged to break one of mine in an extreame off road situation. my props have been ok but would like a bailey morris front one... foss knows about these. u will need +2'' shocks and extended bumps stops are a good idea. i havent noticed a hudge difference in handling.

thanks for info, am i right in thinking if you lift it up 2" it will settle down 1" under natural weight? therefore you only get a true 1" of lift so if you did a 4" lift you would get only 3" of lift? make sense to anyone

not sure about the natural weight issue...i think 2" is 2" is you get me drift. If you add a winch & put low load 2" springs on you may get that effect so go for ones that are good to take add ons, most suppliers do 70-100kg load versions.
Like distd5co, Ive got +2" stainless brake hoses & the air bag spacers.
Also go for +2" shocks (Tuff Back are good quality & not expensive) all round & the bump stops as he mentioned-if an air bag blows, youll sit the arches on ya tyres-not good if youre moving at the time!
Handling is as good as standard, mines got ACE too, so cant comment on a non ACE model if applicable.
I put a new HD UJ in my standard rear prop & new donut bush. The front one I knackered almost instantly but think my UJ's were pooped anyway . I now run a Bailey Morris double cardan wide yoke version with extended slip-BUT-if you change this youll need to add spacers to your gearbox cross member (click me profile to see my previous post on this) as the axle will pull the new prop down further due to the lift & the x-member gets in its way. Youll end up with a nice dent in ya prop (doh) & losing out on articulation.
Thats pretty much it...some people might tell you you should castor correct etc, but neither myself or distd5co have had no probs yet...
I know a guy who runs a shortened D2 chassis challenge vehicle with a major lift on standard arms-theyre alot stronger than people think
Obviously keepin the air bags allows the use off the off road height button (another inch or so) & I have recently seen a D2 with the spacers at the rear but the guy did 3" at the front?! Normal use, the nose points to the stars & only levels out when he raises the back up...cant see how his on road handling is much cop though...
After all that youll be able to up your tyre size & you dont need to cut any bodywork which is a touch !
Lets see some pics of the victim then!
;)

Even a standard front prop will hit the x-member if you fit extended shocks OR fit spacers under the factory springs with factory shocks, as the shock is relocated higher up, if you go this route then you will need to relocate the lower brake pipe mounting bracket as well or it will get trapped / rub on full steering lock.

A "good" set of front lift springs ref what weight your going to add ie bumper / winch will not sag, cheaper ones that have a "fixed" rate will mostlikely sag a little over time, more so with the more weight you add.

Thanks for that foss,, will add pic in bit , got bfg on at mo but they are not far away from front valance as is, only wanna do mild mods on this one

Have you done your yet UP?

If you mean lift it, yes m8, OME front springs and SLS spacers, 265/75's on it now on 16"s.

Just added a spacer plate under the cross member on mine and a m8's to in prep for the new shocks from mine which "should" come tomorrow :D all thats left then (lol who'm I kidding) is the front bumper ;)
