Right, just joined, so take it easy on me.
My dad's got a 2001 Td4 freelander auto, and it's not well.
He's just had it clamped and removed, and got it back (after hailing a passing other random Freelander and saying "follow that effing truck!") and it drove home fine under it's own steam. After parking it up, it now won't turn over or start. Key and remote lock/unlock the alarm and doors OK, and the ignition lights come on OK, and I can hear what I presume is the fuel pump starting up under the bonnet - but it doesn't turn over.

If it was a petrol I'd be thinking maybe the shock of sticking it on the lowloader had tripped the fuel cutoff, but it's a diesel, and it made it back home.

I've tried a 2nd key/remote and it's the same.

Anyone got any ideas?

Regards,
Ric

Not sure if you picked up on a later post with what seemed like a similar problem... http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f9/immobilser-fooked-help-pretty-please-71351.html

Chris

P.S. Oops, just noticed this other post related to a petrol not diesel, not sure if the same fix would apply...checked under the bonnet and there is a inertia reset button (at the back of the engine bay to the right)

P.P.S. Just re-read your post and yours is a TD4 (mine's an L series) so who knows? I'll just shuffle off now... hope someone who might be able to help pops by :)

Spot the fuel cut off...... not saying it's that though since you drove it home but now you know it has one.

Hi my bet would be on the inhibitor that prevents the engine starting while a gear is engaaged all automatics have them so may be worthwile having a look at the wiring make sure nothing has been dislodged if not suspect the inhibitor switch itself
