Hi, my partners '52 TD4 has, i've just found out, been becoming more and more reluctant to start. Yesterday it started, we went out, parked up to get a xmas tree and now it won't start at all. The glow plug light comes on and then goes off after about 3 seconds. When cold it took a few seconds of turning over but then started. When the engine had warmed up it took considerably longer to start. Now it turns over but won't start at all. Any ideas would be appreciated. Is the fuel filter a possibility and would spraying some easy start at it prove or disprove anything. If so where do i spray it. when i turn the ignition on i can hear the pump in the rear wheel arch start to whirr. There is also what sounds like the noise of air escaping from the front left area of the engine which stops abruptly about the same time as the rear pump (about 30 seconds) Sorry, don't know much about all things mechanical. Looking at previous posts a leak off test would be a good place to start, how do i do one?. Also checking fuel pumps are running, where are they? Ta very much
