TD4 turns over but will not run after work done

As Datatek says, there should be an M6 nut on the pillar bolt.
Are the nuts tight ?-should be 10 Nm.
There is an "O" ring on the shank of the injector, could be that if it's not seating and clamped correctly,that fuel is finding it's way up the injector body due to compression pressure. If the leak off fitting and the feedpipe are not leaking-it's the only possibility other than the top part of the injector body leaking where it screws on to the injector stem-this is unlikely though.

If you decide to pull the injector(s) out it would be a "Must" to change the "O" rings and copper seating washers.
If it's a TD4, here are the part nos.

"O" ring- MYX 00060
Copper sealing washer-MYF 100840L
Injector clamp nut-MHY 100210

Thank s for the part numbers I will be ordering said parts... yes I removed the nuts, could be the o ring i dont know but its got to come out either way.

Glad you got your problem sorted they obviously didnt do a proper job 1st time....at least they rectified the fault:)

Just noticed....I missed a zero out of the part no. for the "O" rings..it should be MYX 000060

Been following your plight , just shows if you keep at it and dont give up , you get a result in the end , so glad its sorted :amen: :) hope jedi gets his sorted now !

Thanks for that.....the most frustrating part was waiting for the injectors to come back with useless promises being made regarding shipment. This was made worse due to the weather being dry and not being able to do anything. Couldn't go out in case they arrived so just sat about twiddling my fingers and getting more frustrated each day :eek:
Will put it through it's paces now and hopefully the slight smoking will disappear shortly and it will settle down.
Have to live on bread & dripping for a while as the bank balance has taken a hammering !! :(
 
Well done for sorting it all out. I don't have the time to sort anything major out myself and only have the one vehicle. I'm glad it's now running how it should be. It's a great feeling. Mine is now running great now-only taken 7 months to find the problem and get it sorted.

Yes, it was certainly a challenge given my admitted ignorance of diesels- I can hold my own on petrols though and diagnostics !!
The input I have received has been second to none and that,together with words of encouragement & support made me all the more determined to sort it. When the engine was running rough after fitting the rebuilt injectors my thoughts were that there was a problem with one or more of them and as they were under a 12 month warranty I decided to send them back for checking. I have asked the Company that did them for details of any rework done but have heard nothing...maybe they don't want to admit that someone had dropped a bollick.
Just back from a 85 mile round trip, it's running fine. It smoked a bit for a short while but that has now stopped completely. I have booked it in for the MOT on Monday and all I have to do over the weekend is fit the engine undertray, check all the lights etc. and give it a wash. The wishbones, ARB drop links and track rod ends + tracking were done late last year. The brakes are good and the brake pipes also look OK so I am hopeful of it getting through.

this is fantastic news yes your smoking would be to excess fuel getting in as for the injectors I am wondering if they cleaned them thoroughly after re-coning them
it is possible they for got. :5bhurray::5bhurray: and I have enjoyed the write up each day it is a learning curve
 
Glad you got it beat John. Sounds like it was always down to a leaking injector and the reconditioning place failed to do a good job first time around.

The problem with common rail is it only needs one leaking injector to drop the rail pressure and the engine will not start.
Hope you have a trouble free run for a while now while the bank balance recovers.
 
Irish, thats great news that she started and is running well , you deserve a pint or two:D and no offence was taken, we just wanted to get your motor running, it can be so frustrating when our motors wont go, i have discovered like a lot on here , that the landrover isnt just a motor its a hobby.

I have had several landrovers over the years, all of them petrol I must add, as can be seen from my signature.
From the first one, there was always something to do on them....if you looked closely !!:eek: In those days it was mainly oil leaks and rust that was the problem but as things got more "Reliable and complex ????" the problems became more difficult to solve without access to the new fangled diagnostics which came out. The P38 was the most trying of them all but I managed to keep it running sweet and relatively trouble free for many years. The hippo, looking back, has been reliable apart from this pantomime, a lot of it down to things beyond my control due to the remoteness of where we live and access to suppliers. At the end of the day apart from servicing, all that has been done to it is replacement of "Wear & tear" items-tyres, brakes,exhaust and VCU which cost wise, in comparison with my old P38 is good...plus, prior to this issue had never let me down.
Next project is to underseal the car and then do the folding mirror mod.

if you are going to do a folding mirror job and you do not have the wiring their you can either do the one that was on here a few weeks ago or I can give you a write up of how to do it with just a few meters of wire a switch and some in line fuses
 
Mornin TW...I was following the write up on here a few weeks ago and had the intention of doing it until the water pump and the "Saga" stopped me in my tracks:eek:
The SPE is disabled and it's now a single press lock/superlock on the remote keyfob, I have plenty of relays & cable here.
