TD4 Remap- Wow!!!

Evening all.

Newbie here. New to the forum anyway

I bought my wife a 06 HSE TD4 about 2 years ago. We both love it for cruising and transporting our dogs.

I have found the site really helpful in many ways so thought id report to you just how brilliant the remap is on the TD4 (for those that didn't know);)

I use a company based in Lakeside Essex called AmD. They look after both of our cars, one being a highly modified Focus RS, the other our black beauty Freelander.
These guys are total experts in all types of servicing, tuning, engine builds, performance upgrades and general garage services. They also have a rolling road in house. They are especially known amongst the tuning industry for remapping.

After them having my Focus RS and turning it into a 328 BHP super toy, i just had to let them work a little magic on the Freelander.

Don't get me wrong, the freelander is a great motor as it comes. But we found it quite lethargic in many ways and not exactly responsive.

So AmD took our Landy in for new discs and pads and a remap on tuesday and the results are quite astonishing!

She pulls away now with real venom and pulls like a train right up to 95 MPH (on private roads of course) :D It makes the auto box seem much smoother also.
But what really makes it is the way it pulls from 40- 80 MPH. It really is something else, i believe we have gained an extra 35/40 BHP and over 40 lb/ ft torque. Even more remarkable is the fact we are seeing more than 4 miles to the gallon more than standard!!

This upgrade is a must in my eyes. So if your in the south east and was thinking of someone fettling with your motor I seriously suggest you speak to these guys. AmD Tel- 01708 861827

You forgot to mention the all important cost of modding it, and how much more your insurance now is?

£499 for the remap. Insurance was no extra as its only classed as stage 1 and i have a great insurer (Through the RS owners club) They insure all my vehicles.

Mind you, me and the wife are both getting old now which helps! :hysterically_laughi

For a Freelander 1, Roverrons synergy 2 will give similar gains with the added benefit of the maf compensator for less than half the price (under £200). Won't be overwritten by accident either & can be easily removed & sold separately when you get rid of the car. Win win situation methinks.

Do you know what a tuning box does mate???

It fools all the sensors to think the engine is colder than it is, hence more fuel being pumped in and more power. All that happens with a tuning box is your engine WILL eventually suffer with bore wash. If you think thats a win win situation then thats cool bud. I'l stick to doing it the right way. By the engine being mapped correctly ;)
 
I think you're getting confused with the resistor that some companies sell which fits inline with the temperature sensor to fool the ECU into believing the engine is cooler than it is, usually for petrol engines. You really should check out the digital boxes now available from the likes of Roverron & how they work. Bore wash is again more a petrol phenomenon as diesel is more lubricating. Diesels are also inherently lean burn & don't have a throttle as such, but inject more fuel when the accelerator is pressed - the inlet manifold being fully open to the air at all times.

I'm in no way knocking RoverRon or his devices, a mate of mine runs a BM with one of his box of tricks installed and loves it. Im just fussy in doing things the right way i suppose. By that i mean whats right for me is not right for all. I was merely pointing out how satisfied i am and pointing people to a trustworthy garage (not many about these days)that can carry out any type of work thats required.

I apologise if for a newbie i seemed a bit bolshy.. Im just trying to help out if i can. :amen:

Welcome Skippy - I'm clueless as to what the difference between a remap and an tuning module such as RR's is.
I have a RR synergy and it really does make a big difference to the standard TD4 - how it does it exactly I don't really know I always thought that it was in effect a form of portable remapping?
Perhaps some of the more knowledgeable types can inform me of the difference.
One thing for sure - Ron has plenty of satisfied customers, which was good enough reason for me.
