Freelander 1 TD4 - (P0263) - [SOLVED]

Inlet manifold cleaned and all parts back on car.... still not running right.

Injector leak test done and results are a bit baffling... icarsoft diagnostic scanner continues to report injector no.1 at fault, but makes no mention of injector no.3.

Pictures of leak test attached (no.1 injector is the recon).

I would now be swapping the injector from No1 to No4 and vice versa. If the fault moves, you'll prove it's the injector. If it doesn't move, it suggests the injector drive circuit, or the cylinder down on compression.

Have you had a compression test done? A compression ignition engine (diesel) must have good compression, or misfiring will occur. ;)

I only got the inlet manifold and parts back on car yesterday, as old back injury surfaced last Thursday night after I had been working on the car (fractured my spine and dislocated a couple of joints some months ago).

Will go to local garage tomorrow and ask them to do a compression test for me, and was thinking that no.3 injector looks out of place in leak test, and possibly my original no.1 injector was ok, thought I would ask them to change no.3 with my original from no.1. I'm not sure if I'd be confident and able to get injectors out, except no.1 that has been freed recently.

icarsoft diagnostic flagged inj no.1 as faulty when revs below 1500rpm and when replaced with recon inj exact same issue and diagnostic report. Possibility arose that recon could have also been faulty, but now that leak test has been done, no's 1,2,4 look to be within range of each other.... but no,3 looks way off. I'm hoping that excessive injector leak is responsible for misfire condition.

Im not convinced my original no.1 inj was ever faulty,. Noid light test has shown pulse to all injectors.

Had injector no.3 removed and replaced with the injector from no.1 that was originally replaced with recon injector. Car is running tip top again with steady idle 780rpm... no misfires, and when fault code cleared and re-scanned during idle no more injector fault codes detected.

I have to say that Searchengine has been the most efficient LZ poster I have ever seen on here! Look back over the thread - every suggestion has been actioned quickly and reported back, and now the thread has been concluded with the result.

I think it’s no coincidence that the problem has been solved so quickly.

Thanks for your kind words; the issue was solved in large part by contributions from yourself and others. It was only proper that I concluded with result, good or bad.
 
Ah the infamous Ebay leak test kit. Is this the one with some of the measurement scale numbers round the wrong way? :confused:

It's a useful tool as a comparison between injectors though, and very good value. ;)

Maybe I was lucky, the kit I received had correct measurement scale numbers on all bottles (1-10 from bottom to top)... good value indeed, lol :)
