TD4 & Nokia Advanced Car Kit CK-7W

Guys, my wife thinks the reason cars are automatic is so that you can talk on your mobile whilst driving to your next social event. This she has in common with 75% of the Turkish driving population.

I need to fit the Nokia CK-7W car kit to cure her of this habit and will get one of the many local car audio workshops to do it for me but being the curious type had a look at the manual for the kit and noticed that one wire is to be connected to the radio MUTE connection.

Now in the days when car radios could be extracted and nicked from the dash in about 2 seconds I know that there were a whole array of connections on the back, one of which was presumably the MUTE connection. But now that we all have these console type radios where does this wire get connected?

Most Nokia kits are simply 4 wires - you could fit yourself!!

My freelander has the becker satnav and a quick web search revealed the mute pin within the ISO connector block. A simple crimp of a terminal and all works fine

It is dead easy to fit. Just done one myself. suggest you get the auotoleads adapter cable - that comes complete with CK-7W plug as part of the loom. Just plug and play then (well almost)

here is a list of cables - yu need to choose the correct one for you. I can recommend Siocomms - the owner is a very helpful guy, but very busy, so it sometimes is best to leave a message - he has always called me back, or e-mailed me with info.

Thanks for the replies #2 and #3. Firstly, why am I not fitting it myself? Same reason as I don't cut the grass, clean the windows, or the car, fix a leaking tap or paint the windows. It's because in Turkey you pay to get someone to do all these things for you . Labour is cheap and there are 4 big car workshop areas here in Izmir where you can get anything done, and I mean anything. Cars do not get written off here, they get fixed!
Besides the guy who will install will also make me a nice robust mounting bracket for the mobile holder for about a fiver .

Thanks for the link to Siocomms...exactly what I need, re-direct the audio to the front car speakers and no need to install the Nokia speaker....plus a very useful note that plugging a mobile to the mobile holder will auto disconnect any bluetooth connected......no mention of that in the Nokia manual!
