Freelander 1 Td4 Key fob Programming with Hawkeye Total

Hi All,

Does anyone have a step by step guide on how to program the key fob from a freelander 1 Td4 (2005 facelift) with the Hawkeye Total?

Have you replaced the battery or is the fobkey a new one. As the procedure is to press open five times fast near the drivers door to activate.

It is a new one I want to use as a spare.

Seconded I would also like to know, thought it could only be done on a T4 ?

It has been said on numerous occasions that it can be done with Hawkeye including by @Hippo who may have even done it.

Are we any closer to the answer for this question by the OP ?

I haven't programmed a key, but I have done similar. I have programmed a second hand fob to ma hippo with me hawkeye and it worked. I have also taken ma hippo's working key and working fob, then disabled them with me hawkleye, independently. They stopped working so I then enabled them with me hawkeye. This is slightly different to programming as yer disabling a "known to the vehicle" device from within the vehicles computer. Essentially telling it to ignore a known device.

My advice to the OP would be to have a go and follow the menu on the hawkeye. Unfortunately they don't produce guides to take you through such situations. I have done a number of vid's on me you tube channel on the hawkeye but not this. I did film it but not sure where it is as I have hours and hours of this stuff mixed in with other diagnostic stuff.

If yer go into the programming option just follow the instructions. It will give you a warning about being able/trained to do it etc... keep going. I think you will need a working key to be able to program a new key. In fact I'm certain this is how it's done, but it's been a while. By working key I refer to a key which will key unlock a locked hippo, and key start the engine via turning the ignition, on the hippo. I would also advise the hippo be in a location where you can get to it with a tow truck in case it goes wrong and you need to recover it to a garage.

It will ask you to press a button on the fobs you have present, and bleep when it's seen them. Just follow the instructions on the hawkeye. And don't forget to come back and confirm if it worked or yer locked in/out.

How did yer get on. Did it work?

My wife had an accident with the car. A van rear ended the poor freelander.
SO we have been sorting that out. I will try, though.

The freelander is fine, the missus a bit less The van was total but the back door of the freelander still opened.

Can't beat an old Landrover for having a crash in. Best wishes to the other half, a nice cuppa and a biscuit is the best medicine, it's prescribed on the NHS here in Yorkshire

@Hippo sorry to bring up this tread again but I'm looking to reprogramme a new Key and new key fob.

I have access to a Hawkeye Pro but I don't know the menu option to being adding either of these options to my car.

Please, if at all possible, could you point me in the right direction?

I don't believe the hawkey can program the keys on the facelift FL1 (the immobiliser ECM was changed), but it should program the fobs, as the CCU was the same.
