hello all and greetings from sunny Greece

Having owned only Discos in the past, I am now seriously considering acquiring a Td4 freebie, as a second vehicle (and yes I admit I hate the Golf 4 that we have at the moment).

ALthough the generic inpu I have had so far is that the Td4 has presented far less problems than the K-series powered ones, any input on the issue at hand would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks a priori

its a well known fact that i am no fan of the freelander but i must admit the td4 is the best of em. there are a few good old boys(alright willo) on here that have td4's and swear by em. they will be on here at some point soon and no doubt give me a verbal good hiding for slating their beloved marque ;)

ah well yella, my initial thought was that I wanted to get rid of the wifey's Golf 4 and replace it with something I could drive as well. Diesel sounds good too, 'cause they were banned for civvie use sme time ago and we cannot get any Tdi Discos, which leaves me with only the V8 as my only viable Disco choice. However a Td4 I can get imported from Germany and have I mentioned I really hate the Golf?

yep they do. I used to own a Golf 2 and a 3, now it's a 4, but you cannot do much with it:rolleyes: :D :D :D

(well offroad anyhow)

Hi Firelord and welcome , don't take no notice of old yella, his mum ran orft with a man in a freelander and he has never got over it , so he has about 6 or 7 birthdays a year [attention seeking] yes the diesels are a good motor a few problems but nothing to bad the v6 is the dogs loads of power but let down by poor mpg, the jatco auto box is really good ,go through the threads and you will get an idea ,but remember a lot come on here who have a problem [bit like yella] na he's ok really. . .:)

hehe thanks Ming! Actually I kinda like yella...
Yes we forget sometimes he slags us orft but is always there if you need help so we kinda like the little poppet. . . :)

Hi firelord,
As ming already said, the Td4 in combination with the Jatco Steptronic autobox makes an unbeatable team.

thanks willo for your input. I am under the impression though that despite my best efforts (and the love that started growing after I got the Disco V8 ZF), the Hippo that I located and chose in Germany is a manual. Hope that is not much of a drawback...

Yasou Firelord!

Just into my 3rd month with a TD4Auto and I really love it - only drawback I can find is the MPG but hey! - fuel economy wasn't on top of my list when I bought it. I went for the auto because I do a fair amount of mile per year and like to be comfortable round town (I have another manual toy to play with if I want to use a clutch:) ) That said, I drove a manual when I was test driving and it performs well - MPG & 0-60 will be slightly better on a manual too.

Stu
