Hi Peeps,
Done the dreaded leak back test as I've got hot start problems, well the car has ! Getting diesel from all 4 injectors so it would seem from all the searching I've done on here and on 75andzt that all 4 need refurbing ?
(me 'eads buzzing now!)
Anybody recommend somewhere to either get 'em recon. or swapped?

Cheers,
Rob
P.s Changed the cam sensor,it didn't make any difference to the hot starting prob. so went on to the leak back test.

All injectors leak back - how much are they leaking - it is more important that they are the same.

City Electro Diesel in Swansea do good recon ones for £140

They all appear to be the same, just a small amount.I was under the impression that they shouldn't leak at all,but I've read that much about it me head aches ! So maybe they aren't knacked ?

when I read up on it I understood that it is normal for them all to leak a bit and if one leaks more than the others it is knackered, but I never worked out what "normal" leakage is.

I took mine to the Cardiff branch of City Electro Diesel that angeloc mentioned. They tested my injectors and said they were fine, they then put the diagnostics on and worked out that it was a faulty fuel pressure sensor that was causing hot start problems and rough idling

Hot starting issues and poor idling are common signs of high pressure fuel rail sensor/connector faults.

Bob if you want to a good threat on spill rail tests , dig out Angeloc's.

Thanks for the info.chaps,I'll dig a bit deeper,I've seen a home made test rig somewhere on here or 75andzt club using clear tubing and syringes !
Might be worth a go to get some sort of measure of leak back, and I'll check out info. as suggested re-fuel rail.:)
Thanks again ,much appreciated.

Probably my home made rig - if you are anywhere near West Wales you would be welcome to come over and I will check them. Making a rig is easy though - syringes from eBay - I got 60ml ones but ones around 40ml would be fine as well - as you will see - one of mine was way out.

Nice bit of kit! Also shows one injector leaking off too much, they all leak off a little, if one or two leak off loads they're the faulty ones! It's enough to stop any common rail engine starting.

Believe it or not mine started fine like this and ran ok - fuel economy was not brilliant and you could detect a slight fluffing. Replaced injector and all was well - just got other faults to deal with!

Surprised it started like that tbh. That much usually causes right dramas.

Thats the one ! thanks for the offer but I'm in Yorkshire !
I'll have a go as soon as I've got time.

Cheers, Rob

I think I read somewhere the injectors are supposed to be with +/- 12% of each other?
I did a leak off test on my Vivaro which wouldn't start on its own, but would start fine if towed.
Tried various garages & fault code readers but eventually found a truck servicing company who diagnosed top & bottom crank sensors had gone. Replaced those & works perfectly since.
