Does it refuse to start every time it is hot/warm ? Mine did a similar thing but it wasn't everytime just occasionally, enough to be really annoying. I changed the camshaft sensor, and this may just be total coincidence, but i ordered one for a td4 , and when i took out the old one it was a slightly different shape, as in 'stepped' more and skinnier. than the new one. I don't know enough to be sure but the old one looked similar in photos to be for a 1.8lt. I put the fatter one in and two weeks on i've had no issues..

Getting the codes read would be a good start.

Cam sensor is often the cause of a non start when hot.

I've come across a leaking high pressure regulator O rings being the cause too.

so where do i locate the coolant temp sensor on this model, ive looked online and no clear scale pics or info as to its location or removal etc... Thanks

According to Haynes, on the TD4,. the sensor is screwed into the cylinder head . it is visible once you have removed the intake manifold
